about

This song has always felt like a lullaby to me. One night I was playing around with my guitar and this song just emerged fully, as it is here. It is a very simple song lyrically and musically, and yet it holds the depths of my amazed wonder that almost every night I am visited in my dreams by the Animus, like a direct line to my soul’s need. He is teaching me what gets in my way, and how to open to more, how to open to relationship and love though feeling loved by the Archetypes. He is teacher, trickster, beloved, provocateur, and he has often scared me, reflecting a long held fear and mistrust of vulnerability with men in particular. Yet as I journey through my dreams I can only shake my head in wonder at the radical way he brings me such deep truth, shows me the lies I have lived, and teaches me to sing my heart’s song.

lyrics

When you come I can not hide
I’m feeling you from deep inside
And every night you come to me
I’ve run so fast I could not see

You are there now every night
I don’t know how I don’t know why
I turned away I ran with fright
I turned away shut down the light

chorus
You keep coming and
I keep running
I’m tired of pushing you away
You keep coming
I keep running
But I’m not going to run away no more

Looking out I see the green
A new day that is opening
And last night’s dream still fresh inside
My heart is cracking wide

A way so sweet has never passed
This broken heart but now at last
I feel each night the love you bring
I feel you teaching me to sing

You keep coming
I keep running
I’m tired of pushing you away
You keep coming and
I keep running
But I’m not going to run away no more
